Diamantes Set For Six Game Homestand
After being swept in a three-game series against the Lake County Black Bears this past weekend, the Miami Diamantes (8-7) return home to FIU’s University Park to begin an important six game home stretch. They now trail Lake County (11-4) by three games in the Florida Winter Baseball League standings, and will try and make up ground against the Space Coast Surge (2-13) starting Tuesday night. Following a three-game mid-week series against the Surge, Miami will host the Seminole County Naturals (9-6) for three games – leading up to a four day Thanksgiving holiday break.
Miami has played well at home this season, posting a 7-3 record at University Park. They hosted the Surge last week – coming away with two wins in three games. Diamantes third-baseman Brian Mathews had an outstanding series against Space Coast, finishing 5-for-9 with two home runs, a double, and five runs batted in.
Anthony Bello (1-1, 3.79 ERA), a graduate of South Miami High School – and former Houston Astros farmhand – will make the start for the Diamantes Tuesday night. Bello picked up his first win of the season against Space Coast last week. The left-hander allowed only two earned runs and five hits in seven strong innings.
First pitch Tuesday night is set for 7:05 p.m. at University Park on the campus of Florida International University. Tickets start as low as $5.00.
