Roberto Sabates, 24, is a catcher born in Havana, Cuba. Now living in Miami, Sabates was a 39th round pick of the Chicago Cubs in the 2007 draft. He spent less than a year with the Cubs before joining the Rockford Riverhawks of the Frontier League. He will be a key member of manager Joe Alvarez and the Miami Diamantes roster, as he handles the daily rigors of the pitching staff.
